Water beneath the rocks.

Three glacial lakes, one small village and a lot of potential.

The name Cassadaga comes from the Seneca language and means “water beneath the rocks.” It refers to a chain of three connected glacial lakes, Upper, Middle and Lower Cassadaga, in northern Chautauqua County.

The Cassadaga Lakes offer boating, swimming at Cassadaga Beach, fishing, biking and hiking trails, campgrounds, and access to the county's snowmobile trail system in winter. It's a four-season place.

The problem is that too few people know it's here. Witco is one of the local businesses helping to change that, alongside village leaders, residents and neighbors.

Building a destination, not just a drive-through.

A long-term redevelopment vision for the heart of Cassadaga.

Great small towns give people a reason to stop, stay and come back. The Cassadaga Destination District is a long-term vision that brings together local businesses, entertainment, housing, properties and visitor attractions in Cassadaga.

Concepts include new life for historic buildings like the old Grange, more housing and a stronger connection between the lake and Main Street. The village is pursuing support through New York State's NY Forward program, and Witco is part of that community effort.

A new welcome for everyone passing through on Route 60.

The first step to putting Cassadaga Lakes on the map is letting people know they've arrived. The new “Welcome to Cassadaga Lakes” mural does exactly that.

The artwork is by Molly Strong (@mollystrongart). You'll find it in front of the old Grange building at 56 N Main St, Cassadaga, visible from Route 60.
